SKIN DEEP - THE BEAUTY OF BARK

My first photographs of bark featured close-ups of a eucalyptus, with a display of colors I had not seen on a tree before, and a palm where the leaves came together in a particularly eye-catching V-shape. The bark in both trees offered not only striking colors and bold shapes, but also a variety of intricate textures - an irresistible and magnificent photographer’s canvas! Golden Gate Park, San Francisco street trees and bark that caught my eye during travel have provided many wonderful photographic opportunities since I embarked (no pun intended) on the journey of bark photography.
